I’m Marvin Caldwell, and this is my crew

I’m Marvin Caldwell, and I started Marvin’s United Movers in 2012. I grew up around South Charlotte, back when Ballantyne was still half farmland and the golf-community gates were just going up off Johnston Road. I rode my bike past brick ranches in Pineville and watched the whole stretch from Rea Road to the state line fill in with subdivisions, bonus rooms and three-car garages. This is my home ground, and I know every long driveway and stair-stepped foyer on it.

Before I ever owned a truck, I ran warehouse floors and freight logistics across the Piedmont for the better part of a decade. I scheduled trucks, loaded docks, and learned the hard way that a move falls apart for one reason more than any other: nobody put a real number in writing up front. Families would get a low phone quote, then watch it climb hour by hour while the clock ran on the sidewalk. I hated that. So when I started this company, I built it on one rule that has not changed since 2012 — we lock your flat price in writing before the truck rolls, and that is the price you pay.

Our own trucks, our own people

Marvin’s United is a real Carolina moving company. We run our own trucks out of South Charlotte and we staff them with our own W-2, background-checked, uniformed movers — not day labor, not subcontractors, and absolutely not a broker handing your job to whoever answers the phone. The crew chief who walks your house at the loading end is the same one who unloads it at the new place. My office manager Danielle handles your scheduling, your certificate of insurance for the HOA or high-rise, and your billing. Otis runs the daily truck board so the right crew shows up with the right gear.

What I learned moving Ballantyne

Affluent South Charlotte moves differently than the rest of the metro. There are pianos and home gyms in the bonus rooms, wine fridges and antiques in the finished basements, and white-glove expectations at the front door. The driveways are long, the stairs are many, and the red Carolina clay turns to mud the second it rains. My crews lay heavy floor protection against clay, spring pollen and winter road salt, and we plan around Piedmont weather — the humid summers, the heavy pine-and-oak pollen, and the occasional ice storm that shuts the hills for a day.

Licensed, insured, and accountable

We hold a North Carolina Utilities Commission household-goods certificate for moves inside the state, plus US DOT and MC authority for the interstate hauls we drive ourselves. We carry our own cargo and liability insurance. When you hire Marvin’s United, you are hiring the company whose name is on the truck — and on the written quote. That is the whole point of doing it this way.
